WORLDS FASTEST Aircraft US Air Force SR-71 Blackbird Mini Documentary

A great Mini Documentary video on the world famous US Air Force aircraft the SR-71 Blackbird that was used for observation flights over the Soviet Union.
BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif.–Twenty-six years ago today, Beale said goodbye to the fastest air-breathing jet in the world, the SR-71 Blackbird.

The Blackbird was an advanced, long-range, supersonic strategic reconnaissance aircraft that called Beale Air Force Base home from January 1966 to January 1990.

But for Master Sgt. Floyd Jones (ret.) and a local group of former Blackbird maintainers, the mission continues, not with turning wrenches, but with the same elbow grease.

"It's not glamorous but it needs to be done," said Jones, who worked on the Blackbird for nearly 20 years.

Floyd and members of The Blackbird Maintainers group wash and scrub down the SR-71 periodically to ensure the static display is looking its best.

"It's a beautiful aircraft," said Master Sgt. (ret.) John Olp, a 10-year Blackbird veteran. "But some of the local wildlife prefer to roost on it."

Local birds, weather, wind and dust are all contributing factors that lead to the Blackbird getting an occasional bath.

"We try not to let it get too dirty," Jones said. "We take a pressure washer to it and scrub it down, it takes a couple of hours but we have a goodtime with it."

In addition to the Blackbird Maintainers, the 9th Maintenance Squadron intermittently performs spot cleaning on the aircraft.

Jones said that for many former maintainers it's just another way to reconnect with fellow servicemen and trade "war stories" about the Air Force and the aircraft they enjoyed working on.

"It's a rare plane," Jones said. "We have to take care of it for future generations to cherish."

Developed in secrecy by Lockheed's Skunk Works division in Palmdale, California, only 32 were built. None were ever lost to enemy action.

"This jet was ahead of its time," Jones said. "We all love this aircraft and none of us mind taking care of her into the retirement years."

Coffee — Blending New look for the OLD Golda

Click here for all about blending coffee

AARON AND MURA COHEN ONCE roasted and sold many coffee blends in their now-shuttered shop. But when they retired, a little over a decade ago, there was one recipe they couldn’t let disappear. For years they’d custom-made it for a local of their north Tel Aviv neighborhood, a loyal customer whose kitchen was, for a time, an Israeli political headquarters. Now named after this bygone regular, the couple sought someone to carry on their proprietary method for roasting coffee à la Golda Meir—Israel’s first, and to date, only female prime minister.

WORLDS LARGEST Flying Boat Jet Aircraft for Russian Military

A great video of the worlds largest flying boat aircraft.
A flying boat is a fixed-winged seaplane with a hull, allowing it to land on water, that usually has no type of landing gear to allow operation on land.[1] It differs from a floatplane as it uses a purpose-designed fuselage which can float, granting the aircraft buoyancy. Flying boats may be stabilized by under-wing floats or by wing-like projections (called sponsons) from the fuselage. Flying boats were some of the largest aircraft of the first half of the 20th century, exceeded in size only by bombers developed during World War II. Their advantage lay in using water instead of expensive land-based runways, making them the basis for international airlines in the interwar period. They were also commonly used for maritime patrol and air-sea rescue.
Their use gradually trailed off after World War II, partially because of the investments in airports during the war. In the 21st century, flying boats maintain a few niche uses, such as dropping water on forest fires, air transport around archipelagos, and access to undeveloped areas. Many modern seaplane variants, whether float or flying boat types, are convertible amphibious aircraft where either landing gear or flotation modes may be used to land and take off.

I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience – I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve…. Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Nasa X43A | hypersonic aircraft | Scramjet | mach 10 nasa | 7000 mph plane

X-43A Hypersonic Scramjet Flight
Mach 7 2004 NASA

Hyper-X Program

Highlights from the second and third test flight of the X-43A hypersonic aircraft.

Note: in the third flight test the speeds of Mach 10 (7,310 mph) were achieved by the X-43 hypersonic aircraft.

The X-43 is an unmanned experimental hypersonic aircraft with multiple planned scale variations meant to test various aspects of hypersonic flight. It was part of NASA's Hyper-X program and has set several airspeed records for jet-propelled aircraft. The X-43 is the fastest aircraft on record at approx. 7000 miles per hour (10,461 km/h).
The initial version, e 2001 failed when the stack spun out of control about 11 seconds after the drop from the B-52 carrier plane. It was destroyed by the Range Safety Officer and crashed into the Pacific Ocean. NASA attributed the crash to several inaccuracies in data modeling for this test, which led to an inadequate control system for the particular Pegasus rocket used. The X-43A's second flight was successful when it became the fastest free flying air-breathing aircraft in the world. The third flight of the X-43A set a new speed record of 10,617 km/h (6,598 mph), or Mach 9.65 at 33,528 meters (110,000 ft), on November 16, 2004. It was boosted by a modified Pegasus rocket which was launched from a B-52 mother ship at an altitude of 13,157 meters (43,166 ft). After 10 seconds of free flight, the spacecraft made a planned crash into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern California. This X-plane series of aircraft was replaced by the X-51.

The X-43 was part of NASA's Hyper-X program.

5 Most Economical Private Jets In The World

Subscribe for MORE:
Flying in a private jet is generally reserved for the few wealthy who can afford that kind of luxury. it’s quite expensive to fly in a private jet than it is in a commercial jet. The cost for A seat on a private jet is up to 100 times more than a seat on a commercial flight. That’s because it is very expensive to operate any jet in the world. Commercial airlines are able to bare that cost because they can carry hundreds of people at a time so the cost is split across the board. But a small or midsize jet can only carry a few people on each flight.

Over the years, we’ve seen an introduction of newer types of jets that are smaller in size, yet capable of flying up to six people on board. These jets are suppose to reduce the overall cost of the private owner/operator. They are called VLJs aka Very light jets. A very light jet can cost up to one tenth per hour to operate than a typical midsize jet. Today we will take a look at 5 of the most economical and fuel effectuate private jets in the world.

1. Embraer Phenom 100 – The Phenom 100 is the smallest line of jet produced by Embraer, yet it is one of the largest in its class of light jets. With a cabin large enough to fly 6 people comfortably at jet like speeds. This little rocket machine will cruise north of 400 miles per hour and get you as far as a thousand miles or more. Did I also mention that there’s a potty on board? yea even that’s special for a jet in this class.

PHENOM 100 Range: Up to 1,356 miles
Speed: Up to 460 mph
Cost per hour: $1,152
Price: $4.5 Million

2. Honda Jet – Yes the global Japanese auto maker honda also builds airplanes. The Honda Jet is supposed to be a light business class aircraft and it was first introduced some fifteen years ago. Since the first prototype, it took at leas a decade for Honda to get this jet certified. And since certification last year, The Honda jet is now being mass produced. Although there’s a long waiting list if you like to buy one today. The Honda jet like the Phenom is nothing short of spectacular. Very economical while traveling at speeds north of 400 miles per hour.

HONDA JET Range: Up to 1,388 miles
Speed: Up to 423 mph
Cost per hour: $1,135
Price: $5 Million

3. Cessna Citation Mustang – Once a flagship in Cessna’s line of aircraft, sadly the citation mustang’s production has been halted since last year. The citation mustang is an amazing private jet with a nice cabin that will fit 6 people and fly over 1200 miles in range. Although the mustang has one of the smallest cabin space in it’s class. It does make up for that in speed and range.

CITATION MUSTANG Range: Up to 1,433 miles
Speed: Up to 391 mph
Cost per hour: $1,015
Price: $1.35 Million

4. Eclipse 550 – The eclipse 550 is another great private jet that is produced by One aviation. The 550 is a step up from the eclipse 500 which already offered a ton of range and plenty of speeds. The eclipse 550 is once of the most affordable private jets in the world that is single pilot operated. For about $3 million you can get your hands on a brand new eclipse 550, and used, you can get for less than $2 million. What’s most amazing about this aircraft is that it only burns about 50 gallons of fuel per hour in cruise. that’s just incredible for a jet engine, two jet engines for that matter, to burn that little about of fuel while traveling over 450 miles per hour.

5. Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet – In case you haven’t heard, there’s a new jet in town and it stands alone in its type and design. The Cirrus Vision jet is the company’s answer to more speed and flight ceiling. With a flight ceiling of 28,000 feet. It means you can fly over bad weather. And the Cirrus jet is no slug either. With cruise speeds over 300 miles per hour, it means you get to your destination fast and in comfort. The best part about this aircraft is the fact that it only has one engine to operate and maintain. What that means is much less fuel burn per hour. The Cirrus jet is by far the most affordable jet to operate. It is also once of the most affordable to buy at $2 million.

CIRRUS SF50 Range: Up to 1,266 miles
Speed: Up to 345 mph
Cost per hour: $662
Price: $2 Million

X-51A Waverider 1 mile per second Hypersonic Scramjet

The Air Force's scramjet, the Boeing X-51A Waverider, set a new world record, Wednesday, when it ran for 200 seconds, burned JP-7, and reached a speed of about Mach 5 (roughly 1 mile per second). In 2004, NASA's X-43 flew much faster (Mach 9.7) but burned hydrogen and managed that for about 12 seconds before it melted. More, here:

X-43A Goes 7,000 MPH – Getting Ready for Mach 10

X-43A Raises the Bar to Mach 9.6
Guinness World Records recognized NASA's X-43A scramjet with a new world speed record for a jet-powered aircraft – Mach 9.6, or nearly 7,000 mph. The X-43A set the new mark and broke its own world record on its third and final flight on Nov. 16, 2004.

In March 2004, the X-43A set the previous record of Mach 6.8 (nearly 5,000 mph). The fastest air-breathing, manned vehicle, the U.S. Air Force SR-71, achieved slightly more than Mach 3.2. The X-43A more than doubled, then tripled, the top speed of the jet-powered SR-71.

The X-43 is an unmanned experimental hypersonic aircraft design with multiple planned scale variations meant to test different aspects of hypersonic flight. It is part of NASA's Hyper-X program.

A winged booster rocket with the X-43 itself at the tip, called a "stack", is launched from a carrier plane. After the booster rocket (a modified first stage of the Pegasus rocket) brings the stack to the target speed and altitude, it is discarded, and the X-43 flies free using its own engine, a scramjet.

Gulfstream introduces the G700 as the new flagship of its business jet family – AIN

This AIN video is brought to you by Satcom Direct. To learn more, visit .

View our G700 cabin walkthrough video here:

The market for large cabin, long-range business aircraft is one of the industry's most competitive sectors, prompting manufacturers to vie for dominance with ever-more sophisticated technology. So, it's little wonder that Gulfstream has stepped up its investment to bring the new G700 aircraft to market. The model claims a competitive edge over near rivals like Bombardier's new Global 7500 with its new Rolls-Royce Pearl engines, a new application for the latest Symmetry flight deck systems and an impressive cabin.
